Patrick Mahomes’ father, Patrick Mahomes Sr., was arrested on Tuesday for a probation violation, Page Six has confirmed.
The 55-year-old was booked into the Smith County Jail in Tyler, Texas, at 11:24 a.m. local time, according to jail records.
Smith County District Attorney Jacob Putman told KLTV he was jailed on Jan. 1 after allegedly showing a high alcohol level on an ankle monitor.
He then took urine tests on January 5 and January 9, which came back negative, according to documents obtained by TMZ.
According to CBS 19, a motion to cease and desist has since been filed, and Mahomes Sr. can contest the motion.
Just two years ago, the former baseball player was arrested for drunk driving in Tyler. His blood alcohol level at the time was 0.23.
He was sentenced to five years’ probation in September 2024, and could face up to 10 years in prison if he violates the terms.
At that time, the suspect had been arrested three times.
He was arrested in 2018 and sentenced to 40 days in county jail, which he served on weekends from February 2019 to February 2020, according to the Kansas City Star.
Days after his 2024 arrest, Mahomes II spoke briefly about his father to journalists ahead of the Super Bowl.
“He’s doing well. I don’t want to get too deep into it, but he’s doing well no matter the situation,” the Chiefs star said coyly.
“This is a family matter, so I’ll keep it a secret from my family. That’s all I really want to say at this point.”
Later, in an episode of ESPN’s documentary series “The Kingdom,” Mahomes II said, “I think just knowing he got hurt woke him up and knew he couldn’t keep doing the same thing.”
Mahomes Sr. called it “the most embarrassing thing I’ve ever experienced in my life.”
“I called (my son) right after that and said, ‘I’m sorry for taking up your time and taking away your focus,'” he added.
Mahomes II has not yet said anything about the arrest.
