Saturday Night Live has announced its next hosts and musical guests, with Connor Story taking over Studio 8H on February 28th and Mumford & Sons expected to join.
The booking continues a high-profile season for NBC’s long-running sketch series, which leans heavily toward up-and-coming first-time hosts, pop-forward musical guests, and a newly reconstituted cast following a major revamp earlier this year.
Story will be making his first appearance on the show, coming amidst the heat of a “heated rivalry.” Meanwhile, Mumford & Sons are promoting their next album, “Prizefighter,” scheduled for release on February 20th.
The upcoming episode follows a January broadcast that featured first-time hosts Finn Wolfhard, Teyana Taylor, Alexander Skarsgård, and musical guests A$AP Rocky, Geese, and Cardi B. This period marked the show’s return after the holidays and helped set the tone for the second half of the season.
There were notable changes this season both behind the scenes and in front of the camera. Bowen Yang left the series after seven seasons, after Ariana Grande took over as host earlier this year. It marked the end of an era for one of the show’s most prominent breakout stars.
His exit came with a major cast reset, with long-time players Heidi Gardner and Ego Nwodim leaving, while several newcomers joined the ensemble, including Jeremy Culhane, Veronica Slawkowska and Ben Marshall, formerly of the “SNL” comedy trio Please Don’t Destroy.
“Saturday Night Live,” now in its 51st season, continues to balance traditional charm with new voices as it navigates a post-transition period under creator and executive producer Lorne Michaels.
“SNL” airs Saturdays at 11:30pm ET on NBC. See the announcement below.
