Catherine O’Hara suffered a “short illness” before her untimely death on Friday, Page Six has confirmed.
CAA said in a statement: “Prolific award-winning actress, author, and comedian Catherine O’Hara passed away today at her home in Los Angeles after a brief illness.”
According to the National Institutes of Health, O’Hara suffered from inversion, a rare disorder in which the arrangement of internal organs is a mirror image of normal anatomy.
The Los Angeles Fire Department exclusively told Page Six that the 10-time Emmy nominee was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital in “serious” condition.
Paramedics were called to her Brentwood home at 4:48 a.m. Friday morning for medical assistance.
Her cause of death is unknown at this time.
The “Schitt’s Creek” star is survived by her longtime husband Beau Welch and sons Matthew and Luke.
The family reportedly plans to hold a “private celebration of life” for the actress.
The Canadian native has had a career spanning decades, from the 1980s hit “Beetlejuice” to the current acclaimed Apple TV series “The Studio.”
O’Hara was last photographed on September 14, 2025, attending Apple TV+’s Primetime Emmy Party at the popular restaurant Isabel in Los Angeles.
She was celebrating her nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Patti Lee in The Studio.
The “Home Alone” star looked chic in a floor-length black dress and smiled as she posed for photos with her husband at the event.
The two met on the set of Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice in 1987. O’Hara starred in the film, and Bo served as production designer.
They hit it off, started dating, and eventually married in 1992.
