Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey are celebrating their first Christmas as an engaged couple today. Kelce has a Kansas City Chiefs home game tonight, and Swift, who is a regular at home games, will likely be watching as well. A source said that ahead of the holidays, Swift plans to slow down and enjoy her “favorite time of the year.”
After spending Thanksgiving in seclusion, Taylor Swift is enjoying a very special – and very low-key – Christmas Day. Tonight, her fiancé, Travis Kelce, and the Kansas City Chiefs are scheduled to play a home game against the Denver Broncos. Swift is likely to be in attendance as he regularly attends games at Arrowhead Stadium, even though he’s a lower profile than in previous seasons.
But before he took the field, he and Swift spent this holiday week largely out of the public eye, which was as planned.
A source told Us Weekly on Dec. 17 that Swift is intentionally enjoying herself this holiday season. “This is her favorite time of year, with holidays and birthdays, but she intentionally slows down,” the source said. She’s “making sure I have space to cook, spend time with my family, and enjoy my engagement.”
On October 29, US Weekly reported that the couple is actively trying to minimize the stress of the holiday season in anticipation of their end-of-year festivities, with their plans “very low-key, family-centered, and without (any) extensive travel.”
Although Swift’s birthday celebrations were private, she was spotted at Kelce’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers the following day, December 14th. Swift was joined by her family, including her and Kelsey’s mother, Donna Kelsey, and future sisters-in-law Kylie Kelsey and Jason Kelsey.
The singer strikes a thoughtful balance between sharing parts of her relationship (including in the documentary “The End of an Era”) while keeping other moments private. Although she and Kelsey have not shared any past Christmas photos together, Swift was photographed at the 2023 Christmas Day game.
In 2024, Swift was not seen taking part in Kelce’s away games. The singer has only appeared at home games the past two seasons due to safety concerns. In October 2024, a source told Page Six, “She won’t go anywhere unless she knows the venue well and has thoroughly scouted and secured it beforehand.”
While the star has remained largely silent about her next career move, she did give fans a generous gift during the holiday season. It’s a completed six-episode documentary. She released the final two episodes on December 23rd, ahead of Christmas.
In episode 4, Swift talked about why she thinks her relationship with Kelsey has grown distant. The key is their shared approach to their careers.
“There was a dynamic change with Travis,” she explained. “It’s shocking how many similarities we have in the way we work, the way we think about work, and the way we see each other. We both have jobs where we go out to NFL stadiums and entertain people for three and a half hours. His violence is a lot more intense than mine. But he doesn’t wear heels. But it’s our passion. We’ve been pursuing this since we were little. So I don’t think I ever expected to meet a guy with the same trajectory as me. We realized that our two passions can coexist and actually inspire each other… At the end of the day, we love to support each other.”
