Russell Brand charged with further rape and sexual assault

Russell Brand was charged with further offenses.

The Metropolitan Police announced on Tuesday that it had laid two additional charges against the disgraced comedian, actor and TV presenter: rape and sexual assault.

The allegations, in addition to previous accusations against the “Unforgettable Sarah Marshall” star, also involve two more women, including two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault.

Bland will now appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20 on the additional charges.

Earlier this year, Brand appeared at London’s Southwark Crown Court and pleaded not guilty to the previous charges. The charges, which involved four women, relate to incidents that occurred between 1999 and 2005. Trial on these charges is scheduled to begin on June 3, 2026. The suspect will remain on conditional bail until then.

Detective Chief Inspector Tariq Farooqi, of the Metropolitan Police, said in a statement in relation to the new charges: “The women who made the reports, including those involved in the two new charges, continue to be supported by specially trained officers.” Farooqi added that the Met investigation, which was first launched in 2023 after police received several allegations following major revelations from both the Channel 4 documentary series Dispatches and the Sunday Times, was “ongoing” and urged anyone affected by the incident or anyone with information to come forward.

In a 2023 revelation, Brando was accused of “rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse.” A representative for the program said, “Five women (four of whom requested anonymity) have agreed to share serious sexual allegations on the program.”

Just months after the revelations, Brando converted to Christianity and spoke openly about his new faith. Last year, he prayed on stage with Tucker Carlson and later Jordan Petersen at an event in the United States.
