Jessie J has denied “false” and “unfair” reports that she dissed ex-girlfriend Channing Tatum in her new breakup anthem.
In a lengthy message posted to Instagram on Thursday, the pop star was adamant that her new single “Thew It Away” has nothing to do with the actor.
“I never said that. The headlines are so dramatic and mean.”
“The reason I say something is because I know that if the shoe was on the other foot, he would also revise the story,” Jesse, 37, added.
“He’s a great father and I never want his beautiful daughter to read this book or be told that because she thinks I said that about her father,” she said, referring to his and ex-wife Jenna Dewan’s 12-year-old daughter, Everly.
“It’s not fair. Channing and I ended our relationship on good terms. I have nothing but respect for him.”
Jesse referenced the lyrics of his track, “I don’t have the courage to rewrite the story/I’m the beauty, you’re the beast.”
“He was never a beast to me,” she wrote. “And I can’t let some media outlets drag his name out for clickbait. So yeah, let’s move on.”
The “Price Tag” songstress and Tatum, 45, were in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2018 to 2020.
Last week, US Sun reported that the “Price Tag” songstress revealed she was singing about Tatum, 45, while performing her album breakup song “Don’t Tease Me With a Good Time” in West London.
“The next song is a song I wrote with Ryan Tedder in 2020,” Jesse added. “Then you’ll know who I was dating.”
The “Domino” hitmaker sang about “putting (her) heart on the table.”
“But oh, that karma will come someday/Cause I gave you love and you threw it away,” the lyrics say.
After Tatum, the Grammy nominee married athlete Chanan Coleman in 2021, and the two have a son together.
As for the “Magic Mike” actor, he started dating actress Zoe Kravitz, but they called off their engagement last year.
