Reba McIntyre corrected Today show host Savannah Guthrie live on air after the journalist asked her a question about her fiancé, Rex Lynn.
The country music singer appeared on Monday’s episode of the NBC show and talked about Season 2 of the sitcom “Happy’s Place.”
“That’s where you met your husband too, Rex, great…” Guthrie said, referring to McIntyre’s co-star and husband-to-be.
McIntyre quickly interrupted Guthrie and interjected, “Now, wait a second.”
“Before everyone starts having infidelity at home, we’re just engaged,” she corrected.
Guthrie apologized for accidentally calling Lynn her husband.
McIntyre went on to explain that she just didn’t want her loved ones to feel like they couldn’t make it to the wedding.
“Families will say, ‘Wait, you didn’t tell us?!'” McIntyre explained.
Lin happened to be watching the interview offstage and looked completely shocked when the camera cut to him. However, his expression softened when his fiancée revealed the status of their relationship.
“He’s a workaholic and loves rehearsing,” McIntyre gushed. “I don’t really participate in rehearsals, so he really made sure I knew my lines and that I was ready when tape day came.”
McIntyre, 70, also said it was “a lot of fun” working with Lynn, 69, on the series.
“I’m so grateful that we get to go to work together, work together and go home together,” she said.
McIntyre confirmed they were engaged in December 2024, but waited to share the exciting news due to the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.
She spilled the beans about the engagement when a reporter referred to Lynne as McIntyre’s “fiancée” on the red carpet in September, but she didn’t correct him.
Just like their engagement announcement, their wedding will be very low-key.
“Reba and Rex’s wedding is going to be very different. It’s going to be low key, very fun, lots of people and lots of food. Our big motto is just have fun,” she said.
McIntyre and Lin have known each other since the ’90s. However, after McIntyre’s mother passed away in 2020, they reconnected and have been together ever since.
The “Reba” alum was married to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987 and had son Shelby, 35, with Narvel Blackstock from 1989 to 2015.
