James Van Der Beek shared a new video of himself playing soccer on Instagram amid his battle with cancer, and his wife Kimberly Van Der Beek praised his skills.
In a clip posted Monday, the “Dawson’s Creek” alum wore the jersey from the 1999 film “Varsity Blues” to raise money for cancer treatment.
Van der Beek tossed the football in his hand and spun it on his fingers, showing viewers every angle of his white soccer jersey, which featured the number 4 in royal blue and the character Moxon from Varsity Blues on the back.
“By popular demand! My favorite jersey. Maybe it was all about the fun plays executed during the football sequences of away games…but I always loved wearing the white national team shirt,” he captioned an Instagram post.
“When I released the Blues jersey last year, I was touched by the love and support I received from everyone. It means more than I can express,” added Van Der Beek, 48.
The “Dancing with the Stars” alum also thanked fans for “the love, prayers, support and for giving this jersey so much more meaning than the movie.”
“I am infinitely grateful to you all,” he wrote.
Van der Beek said proceeds from the autographed jerseys will go to support his and other families battling cancer.
The actor’s wife Kimberly, 43, spoke passionately about her boyfriend in the comments section of the post.
“You’re a wizard. Bouncing baby!!” she wrote.
Last November, James was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer, announcing that he was “personally dealing with this diagnosis” and “taking steps towards resolution.”
“There is reason for optimism and I feel good,” he told People magazine in a statement.
James wrote on Instagram that he had wanted to keep his health issues more private, but had to come forward with his diagnosis after being “informed that a tabloid would be reporting the news.”
Earlier this month, the father-of-six revealed he would be auctioning off personal memorabilia from his hit show “Dawson’s Creek” to help fund cancer treatment.
Items that will go on sale next month include the necklace his character Dawson gave Joey, played by Katie Holmes, for prom (estimated to be worth between $26,400 and $52,800) and the outfit Dawson wore in the pilot episode.
