Bill Melgin, a Los Angeles-based national correspondent for FOX News Channel who has recently focused on immigration-related stories, has been promoted to Congressional correspondent and relocated to Washington, D.C.
“Bill’s tenacious dedication to uncovering the truth and deep understanding of national issues make him ideally suited to cover the complex world of Congress,” Fox News Media President and Editor-in-Chief Jay Wallace said in a statement.
Melgin joined Fox News in 2021 and has spent much of his time reporting from parts of the U.S. southern border. He also reported on the latest news regarding the 2025 California wildfires, the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, and the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. and the drowning of Texas National Guardsman Bishop Evans in the Rio Grande.

Melgin previously worked as an investigative reporter at KTTV, a Los Angeles station owned by Fox, where he won three Emmy Awards for local investigative work. He also held anchor and reporter roles at Nexstar’s WJYZ, a Fox affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina, and KFOX, a Sinclair-owned Fox affiliate in El Paso. Melgin is a graduate of Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He is a two-time recipient of the Southern California Radio & Television News Association’s Golden Mic Award for Best Investigative Journalism.
