Christy Martin came out swinging.
The former professional boxer, 57, jumped to Sidney Sweeney’s defense on Wednesday, a day after Ruby Rose slammed the 28-year-old actress and called her a “cretin.”
Rose claimed that Sweeney “ruined” the biopic “Christie,” in which he played Martin.
Meanwhile, Martin fired back Wednesday via Instagram, saying “some people are attacking” Sweeney.
“I’ve always been a fighter,” the retired athlete told his followers. “My life reflects that in every way, and now I’m fighting for others.
“Sid not only worked hard for this film, but he worked hard for me, for my story, and for so many others who are suffering in silence,” she continued. “So I want to be clear about who Sid is. She’s my friend and ally!”
Representatives for Rose have not yet responded to Page Six’s request for comment.
The “Orange Is the New Black” alum aired criticism of Sweeney via a thread on Tuesday.
The 39-year-old claimed she was involved in the film’s planning stages as a fictional character based on Martin’s high school girlfriend Shelly Lusk (played by Jess Gabor in the final film).
“The original Christy Martin script was amazing. It was life-changing. I was obsessed with playing Cherry. Everyone was experiencing the core material,” Rose said.
“Most of us were actually gay,” she added. “That’s part of the reason I continued acting. Losing roles happens all the time. … People don’t want to see people who hate them parading around pretending to be us.”
Rose also accused the Euphoria alumnus of being a “cretin” who “ruined the movie” and concluded: “It’s outdated. Christie deserves more recognition.”
This year, it was revealed that Sweeney is a registered Republican, and his political leanings have come under fire.
Her American Eagle Jeans ad was also derided for promoting eugenics, with many likening it to “Nazi propaganda.”
“I did an ad for jeans. … I love jeans,” Sweeney said in a GQ interview earlier this month, expressing “surprise” at the backlash.
Meanwhile, the actress has been photographed getting cozy on both coasts with new boyfriend Scooter Braun over the past month.
She and the music manager, 44, were recently photographed making out and enjoying a bike ride in Central Park in Montecito, California.
