“Alien: Earth” has been renewed for a second season on FX, Variety reports. Additionally, series creator Noah Hawley has signed a new overall deal with FX and Disney Entertainment Television.
Hawley’s entire contract is worth in the nine-figure range, according to a person familiar with the situation. Production on “Alien: Earth” Season 2 will begin in London in 2026, while Season 1 was filmed in Thailand.
“It has been a great honor to work with Noah on FX’s best and biggest shows for more than a decade, and we are excited to extend our partnership into the future,” said FX Chairman John Landgraf. “Noah never ceases to amaze us with truly original stories, and his unique ability to bring them to vibrant life, not only as a writer but also as a director and producer, makes him extraordinary. We can’t wait to work on the next season of Alien: Earth and the equally exciting future projects in development.”
“Alien: Earth” serves as a television extension of the “Alien” film series. It debuted on FX in August and received critical acclaim from critics and viewers alike. The cast includes Sidney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Timothy Olyphant, Essie Davis, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, David Ryssdal, Adrian Edmondson, Adarsh Grav, Jonathan Ajay, Elana James, Lily Newmark, Diem Camille, and Mo Bar-El.
The official logline for the first season reads: “When a mysterious spaceship crash-lands on Earth, a young woman (Sidney Chandler) and a ragtag group of tactical soldiers make a fateful discovery that confronts Earth’s greatest threat.
“We are excited that this expanded agreement opens new doors of opportunity across Disney Entertainment Television,” said Hawley. “FX has always supported bold, character-driven storytelling. From the beginning on Fargo, they encouraged me to take creative risks and follow the story wherever it took us. I’m grateful to continue exploring the world of Alien: Earth with our partners, cast and crew as we begin our next chapter.”
Hawley is the creator and executive producer of “Alien: Earth.” Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger, Emilia Serrano, Bob DeLaurentis, Peter Calloway, Monica Macer, John Campisi and Simon Emanuel also serve as executive producers. This series is produced by FX Productions.
“While working on ‘Fargo’ at FX, we knew first-hand that Noah was a unique talent,” said Eric Schrier, President, Disney Television Studios & Global Original Television Strategy. “He continues to produce some of the best shows on television, and we couldn’t be more excited for Noah to continue our FX partnership and expand it across Disney Entertainment Television.”
Hawley first came to FX in 2014 for the anthology series Fargo. The series has aired five seasons to date, and the show has won seven Emmy Awards out of a total of 70 nominations and three Golden Globe Awards out of 14 nominations. Hawley also created the FX-Marvel series “Legion,” which aired for three seasons on the network.
Mr. Hawley is repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment, Sunshine Sachs Morgan & Lillis and McCune Frankel Whitehead.
