Charlie Plummer, Stephen Graham, Toni Collette, Isabella Merced, Maisie Stella and Sir Anthony Hopkins star in Eveline, the story of a man with a degenerative muscle disease who enjoys a rich digital life through World of Warcraft. The film will be directed by Morten Tyldum, who was nominated for an Oscar for his work on The Imitation Game. Based on the true story of Mads Steen, the title is inspired by the name of Steen’s virtual alter ego in the popular video game.
“Ibelin” was written by BAFTA nominee Ilaria Bernardini (“The Citadel: Diana”) and Academy Award nominee Hossein Amini (“The Wings of the Dove”) and is based on the blog “Musings of Life,” which Steen was writing until shortly before his death at the age of 25 in 2014. The film will explore both the group of World of Warcraft fans who became Steen’s admirers and the group who became Steen’s fans. As his loving, funny, chaotic family.
