A series adaptation of the novel The Accomplice starring Taraji P. Henson has landed at Peacock for development, Variety reports.
The project is based on the novel of the same name written by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson and Aaron Phillip Clark and published in 2024. Jackson will executive produce through G-Unit Film and Television, while Henson will star and executive produce under the TPH Entertainment banner. Produced by UCP. There are currently no writers connected.
Jackson previously spoke about the project and Henson’s casting in an interview with The Breakfast Club in October.
The project’s logline reads: “Nia Adams (Henson) is a fearless Texas Ranger on the trail of master thief Desmond Bell, whose latest target is one of America’s wealthiest families. As Nia grows closer, she uncovers a conspiracy so explosive that she must choose between exposing the truth or protecting the very system she is sworn to serve.”
If “Accomplice” goes to series, it will be Henson’s second show at Peacock. She previously starred in the star-studded drama “Fight Night: Million Dollar Heist” alongside Kevin Hart, Samuel L. Jackson and former “Empire” and “Hustle & Flow” co-star Terrence Howard.
Henson is one of the most famous actresses of our time. She was nominated for an Academy Award in 2009 for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and starred in the Oscar-nominated historical drama Hidden Figures. Henson’s other notable film credits include Hustle & Flow, 2023’s The Color Purple, and both Think Like a Man and Think Like a Man Too. Henson is also best known for her starring role in the FOX music industry drama “Empire,” for which she received two Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win. She also received Emmy nominations for her guest role on “Abbott Elementary” and the Lifetime film “Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story.”
Henson is repped by IAG, M88 and Richter Grossman.
Jackson is an executive producer on Starz’s hugely popular “Power” series. On that note, “Power Book III: Raging Kanan” is currently gearing up for its fifth and final season, and “Power Book IV: Force”‘s third and final season will premiere on November 7th. Starz is also currently working on a prequel, “Power: Origins,” and a spinoff, “Power: Legacy,” is also in development, with a writers’ room currently open. Jackson is also an executive producer on Starz’s upcoming boxing drama “Fightland,” and has multiple scripted series, documentaries and films in development for Starz as well as streamers such as Hulu. As an actor, Jackson is also scheduled to appear in the upcoming “Street Fighter” movie as the Balrog.
Mr. Jackson is repped by IAG and Savva Entertainment.
