Actors Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have been rumored to be dating for months after they were spotted on a number of seemingly platonic outings. However, it was recently reported that the two stars are just friends.
Here’s their complete relationship timeline so far:
February 2025
On the eve of Valentine’s Day, de Armas and Cruz were also spotted having dinner in London, where they both dressed casually and grabbed takeout. A source told People that the meeting discussed “potential future collaborations.”
A few days later, de Armas was photographed holding hands with his rumored girlfriend Manuel Anido Cuesta in Madrid.
March 2025
On March 14, de Armas and Cruz were photographed together at a helipad in London. A source told People at the time that the two were not romantically involved and that director Doug Liman was on board.
April 2025
On April 29, just before de Armas’ birthday, TMZ captured a photo of the two in a helicopter piloted by Cruise. The next day, footage shared on X (formerly Twitter) showed the two walking together in a park. That night, they were spotted at KOL, a Mexican restaurant in London’s Marylebone district.
May 2025
On May 1, they were spotted in London again, this time attending David Beckham’s 50th birthday party, followed by dinner at the Core in Notting Hill. A source at the event told Page Six that the night appeared to be platonic.
The eyewitness said the two had “a lot of fun” that night, adding: “They came together and had a great night and obviously enjoyed being together. But they couldn’t say more than that… There’s no evidence that it was romantic.”
Another source said the two were brought together as friends over a common professional interest in stunts. The actress’ film “Ballerina,” set in the same world as John Wick, was stunt-heavy, and Cruise is currently releasing her new action-packed “Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning.”
“If they were friends, I’m sure he would have coached her. I think she would have called him for advice,” the source claimed. “I think they were talking about things like, ‘This is how stuntmen do it.’ I’m sure he’s giving her a lot of tips, he’s a legend in the stunt world.”
The source added that de Armas works very hard on Ballerina’s set, especially the fight choreography.
“She’s great. She works hard. She’s very thoughtful. She calls you on the BS. She always double-checks. Why are we doing this? How does it actually work in real life? She’s very curious about everything we’re doing,” they said. “She’s really fun. She wants to do a good job. She fights a lot of battles herself.”
In mid-May, de Armas was interviewed on Good Morning America and was asked about working with Cruise.
“It’s so much fun[doing action projects],” she said. “We’re definitely working on a lot of things. Not just one, but several projects with (directors) Doug Liman and Christopher McQuarrie and of course Tom. And I’m very excited.”
The same day, a source claimed to Us Weekly that Cruz had romantic feelings for de Armas and was “very infatuated” with her.
“They went on a few dates, but it was very low-key,” the source added. “It’s still in the early stages and he’s courting her.[He’s]really into her.”
The ballerina star is also thought to be interested, but is said to be “more cautious.”
“She doesn’t want to move too quickly. She’s taking it really slowly,” the source added.

Cruz and de Armas were photographed vacationing together on the Spanish island of Menorca in mid-July. halo! The photo released in 2017 shows the actors relaxing on a boat while cruising around the island. De Armas wore a white cover-up dress over a bikini, while Cruz opted for a blue shirt and shorts.
On July 18, sources confirmed to People that she had broken up with Manuel Anido Cuesta, the son-in-law of Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermudez. However, the source also said that their relationship is “not romantic.”
On July 30, the two were photographed holding hands in Woodstock, Vermont, where de Armas owns a home. According to TMZ, they were spotted attending a concert at Oasis’ Wembley Stadium in London the night before. The media reported that their activities included visiting national parks, eating ice cream and shopping.
A source told People that week that there had been a change in Cruz and de Armas’ relationship, but the source wouldn’t say whether it had truly become romantic.
De Armas is “really enjoying spending time with him,” the source said. “They have become incredibly close, and Tom continues to be a great support both personally and professionally.”
Officials also said they would like to take him to Woodstock.
“Anna loves Vermont,” the source explained. “This is her place to rest and recharge. She was excited to entertain and show Tom around. She took him to all of her favorite places.”

A source who spoke to Entertainment Tonight on Aug. 2 said that while there is truth to the story that Cruz and de Armas shared a “working relationship,” their “bond has grown stronger.”
“Over time, it became clear that they were more than just a friendship and a working relationship,” the source explained, adding that they are working on projects together, specifically the new thriller Deeper. Spending time together created something more.
“Tom thinks he’s incredibly smart and beautiful. Anna always enjoys spending time together and enjoys the flirtatious attraction between them,” the source added.
After their trip to Vermont garnered public attention, a source told People magazine on Aug. 6 that the actors “had a great vacation together.” The source added that de Armas “enjoys being a host” and “loves spending time with Tom.”
The source also mentioned that both stars have shifted their attention to Deeper, saying, “Right now, they are still very focused on starting a new project together. This is a very important project for both of them. It will be a tough shooting schedule, but they are ready.”

On October 20, People magazine reported that de Armas and Cruz were just friends and not an official couple. A source told the outlet that Cruz is a “dear friend and mentor” to de Armas and that she “really enjoys spending time with him.”
The source also confirmed that de Armas is single and has “been single for a while.” He added: “She’s been in contact with Tom and there’s an upcoming film project coming up, which she’s looking forward to.”
