Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson reportedly got into an argument that resulted in Tomlinson suffering a concussion and the cancellation of the Netflix docuseries.
The incident occurred while the pair were filming on location, and was sparked by Malik’s negative comments about Tomlinson’s mother, Joanna Deakin, who died of leukemia in 2016.
“There was an argument and then Zayn made a comment about Louis’ mother Johanna,” a source told The Sun in a report published on Friday.
The source added: “Louis was stunned and in shock. As he tried to move, Zayn attacked him. Zayn punched him square in the face. He was wearing a ring and it cut Louis in the head.”
“He was removed and Louis was treated. He suffered a concussion. This happened outside in front of a lot of people. It was shocking.”
According to the newspaper, neither band member has spoken to the other since the incident six months ago.
Reports of a tense altercation involving Tomlinson and Malik first surfaced in December 2025. It comes just months after news of their three-part documentary series was announced. Sources outlined a similar incident to Star Magazine.
Representatives for Malik and Tomlinson did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment, nor did a representative for Netflix.
The news comes around the same time Malik revealed he was rushed to hospital with a mysterious illness, which led to him canceling several upcoming appearances.
Malik, 33, wrote on his Instagram Stories on Friday: “Thank you to all my fans for your love and support now and in the future. It’s been a long week and I’m still recovering unexpectedly,” Malik wrote on his Instagram Stories, sharing a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed.
She continued, “I’m really disappointed that I won’t be able to see you all this week, but I wouldn’t be where I am today without you. I’m so grateful for your understanding.”
He did not give a reason for his hospitalization, but expressed gratitude to the nurses, doctors, cardiologists and the rest of the hospital staff who played a role in helping him recover.
“Thank you to our wonderful hospital staff – doctors, nurses, cardiologists, administrators, administrators and everyone who has helped us in the past and continues to help us,” he added. “You all are legends! Big big love xxz”
