Wes Bentley will reunite with Ryan Murphy for the FX series version of The Shahs, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.

Bentley joins previously announced cast members Kaia Gerber, Igby Rigney, Homer Geer, Graham Campbell, and Hayes Warner. The show is based on the book of the same name by Bret Easton Ellis.

Sources say Bentley will play Terry, the father of Warner’s character Debbie.

Representatives for FX and 20th Television declined to comment.

The horror novel “The Shards” is set in 1980s Los Angeles and features a fictional serial killer as the main character, while incorporating semi-autobiographical details about Ellis’ upbringing. The official description of the novel by the Penguin Random House imprint Knopf says:

“Seventeen-year-old Brett is a senior at the exclusive Buckley Preparatory School when a new student arrives with a mysterious past. Robert Mallory is intelligent, handsome, and charismatic, and he keeps a secret even as he becomes part of Brett and his close-knit circle of friends. The only obsession with Mallory is her growing fear of the Trawler, an on-the-run serial killer who grows ever closer to Brett and his friends.

Bentley has appeared on Murphy’s American Horror Story series for three seasons, the most recent being Season 6 in 2016. On television, he is best known for his starring role in the hit Paramount Network drama Yellowstone, where he played Jamie Dutton for five seasons. Bentley is primarily known for her roles in films such as “American Beauty,” “Interstellar,” and “The Hunger Games.”

Represented by WME, Untitled, Kopeikin Law PC

“The Shards” was first reported to be in production at FX in May, and FX ordered it to series in July. Murphy will serve as executive producer through his Ryan Murphy Productions, and Max Winkler will direct and executive produce, according to reports at the time. Ellis will also serve as executive producer, along with Nick Hall, Kathleen McCaffrey and Brian Young. 20th TV will produce and Murphy has an overall deal with the studio.
