Variety and NBCUniversal have partnered on a cross-platform content initiative related to NBC’s year-long 100th anniversary celebration.
Starting next month, Variety will publish a regular series of NBC100 editorial and branded content across digital, print, social, video and podcast platforms. The series is designed to explore NBC’s past, present, and future. The rollout will extend into December, when NBCUniversal’s commemorative campaign culminates in a three-hour primetime special on December 10th.
Variety will tap into its vast archives and work with NBCUniversal archivists to document milestone moments, highlighting NBC’s legacy of innovation and persistence as a cornerstone of the media and entertainment business. In this editorial series, we examine the company’s century-long evolution and what it means for its parent company, NBCUniversal, today against a backdrop of industry-wide turmoil.
Variety’s NBC100 content will be published across the brand’s many platforms and will include live media extensions. All of Variety’s coverage is aggregated into a dedicated NBC100 hub, accessible at Variety.com.
“Variety and NBCUniversal’s 100th anniversary partnership provides a rare opportunity to see from top to bottom one of the companies responsible for creating the mass media field as we know it today,” said Cynthia Littleton, co-editor-in-chief of Variety. “It is also a chance to shine a spotlight on unsung heroes and uncover untold moments that influenced the course of history.”
Variety features director Emily Longeretta and television executive editor Michael Schneider will lead the effort alongside Littleton. Variety Associate Publisher Donna Pennestri and Variety Content Studio Executive Producer Alex Hughes are closely involved in the project’s operations.
