The show was originally announced to be in development in April 2023. The logline says:

Stuart is aided in this quest by his girlfriend Dennis (Lapkus), geologist friend Bart (Posen), and quantum physicist and all-around pain Barry Kripke (Bowie). Along the way, they meet “The Big Bang” Another world version of the familiar character from “Theory”. As the title suggests, things don’t go well. ”
“Stuart Couldn’t Save the Universe” is the work of co-creators Chuck Lorre, Zac Penn, and Bill Prady. The series is produced by Chuck Lorre Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television, with Lorre in an overall deal. Lorre, Penn and Prady will also serve as executive producers. Kyle Newacheck directed the pilot and executive produced.
This will be the fourth show in the “Big Bang” universe. Apart from the Mothership show, which ran for 12 highly rated seasons on CBS, the prequel “Young Sheldon” ended its seven-season run on the broadcast network in May 2024. A spinoff of that show, Georgie and Mandy’s First Wedding, starring Montana Jordan and Emily Osment, premiered on CBS on October 17, 2024.
