Front Office Sports is getting into the daily TV sports news game.
The online media company, known for its aggressive coverage of the sports industry, is preparing to launch a daily TV news show, “Front Office Sports Tonight.” This is a 30-minute nationally broadcast program covering the biggest sports news of the day.
However, this approach is not in the highlights and recap format of shows like ESPN’s “SportsCenter.” Front Office Sports’ daily program “goes beyond sports and delves into the most important culture, entertainment and business stories in the world of sports,” the company said.
“Front Office Sports Tonight” is scheduled to premiere on September 14, 2026. The show was viewed in more than 85% of the U.S. and 49 of the top 50 markets, the company said. The show will be broadcast nationally on a group of stations including stations owned by Fox, Hearst, Nexstar Media, Sinclair, Gray, Scripps, Sunbeam, American Spirit and Lockwood.
Many of America’s largest markets are home to Fox-owned television stations, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas, Philadelphia, Houston, Washington, DC, Phoenix, Seattle, Orlando, and Minneapolis.
“As media changes every day, one thing is clear: Sports is more important than ever,” said Jeff Zucker, CEO of RedBird IMI and Chairman of the Board of Front Office Sports. “And no one covers the business of sports like Front Office Sports. We’re excited to bring FOS coverage to local TV stations across the country every day starting this fall.”
“It’s ideal timing,” he added. “Sports and information are what really drive television broadcasts these days.”
Zucker said the daily television show is the “next step” in the evolution of front office sports. “As the broadcasting landscape changes and evolves, I think we’re going to see new programming and new economic structures that are appropriate for this era,” said Zucker, the former CNN CEO. “This is not the kind of show we were doing 10 years ago…We understand how to do it with a different cost structure.”
Zucker declined to say how much Front Office Sports is investing in the new daily show, but called it a “significant undertaking.” The company plans to announce new hires for the program, including talent and showrunners, in the future. But “Front Office Sports Tonight” will also leverage the site’s existing reporting staff and feature on-the-ground segments from journalists. The company currently has 70 employees.
RedBird IMI, a joint venture between RedBird Capital Partners and Abu Dhabi-based International Media Investments, is the majority owner of Front Office Sports. Zucker partnered with Redbird IMI in 2022.
“Front Office Sports Tonight” airs Monday through Friday and once every weekend. The show explores the intersection of sports, culture, entertainment, and business, promising “an inside look at the power plays and figures that shape the business and culture of sports.” The program will feature interviews with athletes, coaches and executives featured in the news.
“There has never been more interest in the business and culture of sports, with storylines receiving as much attention as the play on the field,” Adam White, CEO and founder of Front Office Sports, said in a statement. “This smart, personality-driven show is an after-hours take on the conversations FOS has been leading throughout the day.”
“The timing couldn’t have been better. It’s a great fit for our strategy and, more importantly, for our customers,” Frank Cicha, executive vice president of programming for Fox Television Stations, said in a statement.
The series will be executive produced by Jeff Zucker, Patrick Dimon, and Morgan Hartzun. “Front Office Sports Tonight” is distributed domestically by FOS Studios, with station sales handled by Barry Wallach and national television advertising sales handled by Marathon Ventures.
New York-based Front Office Sports was founded in 2014. RedBird IMI acquired a minority stake in the company in 2023. A year later, Zucker’s company acquired majority control of Front Office Sports, buying out the stake held by FOS’s original investor, SC Holdings.
Redbird IMI’s other investments include All3Media, the UK’s largest independent production group, which it co-owns with Banijay. Media Resolution Studio; Ever Wonder Studio; Hidden Pigeon Co., Ltd.; and UFL.
