Anna Faris says work helped her get through her divorce from Chris Pratt after eight years of marriage.
“It was sad,” the actress said of the breakup in a Variety profile published Saturday, later saying that working on the podcast “Anna Faris Isn’t Qualified” “helped me tremendously” at the time.
Faris, 49, and Pratt, 46, married in 2009 and welcomed son Jack, now 13, in 2012.
The two divorced in 2018.
“I was lucky to have a podcast at that time,” the “Scary Movie” star explained. “I wanted to talk to about four people and create my own secret community. I wanted an outlet outside of Hollywood as a way to connect with people.”
Despite having “always had a desire to connect with people,” Faris “didn’t reveal much on the podcast,” but admitted she felt she could do so “if needed.”
“That made me think, ‘I’ve always loved writing, and I know it makes me happy, and maybe that’s a way to make money,'” the “House Bunny” actress continued.
At the time, Faris was “considering a version of retirement.”
Now, “opportunities are more abundant than ever.”
“I’m so grateful,” Faris confessed. “When people see me, they usually smile and say, ‘Oh, I love ‘The House Bunny,” or ‘Oh, I love ‘Scary Movi’e,’ or ‘My mom got me through that tough time.'”
Faris told the outlet that she had “enough courage and fortitude” to get through her divorce and Hollywood chatter, but that it would be “naive” to think that 26 years in the spotlight didn’t “shape” who she is.
“But scrutiny is shit,” Faris said.
Meanwhile, the “Hot Chick” actress gave a deeper look into why her marriage failed on a 2021 episode of her podcast.
Faris told guest Gwyneth Paltrow that her past two husbands (she was married to Ben Indra from 2004 to 2008) were actors, but they didn’t do a “great job of eliminating competitiveness.”
“At least I didn’t. I’m a proud person and didn’t want to show any weakness,” she added.
However, after their breakup, Faris and Pratt found love again.
The “Parks and Recreation” star married Katherine Schwarzenegger in 2019, and the couple shares children Lyla, 5, Eloise, 4, and Ford, 1.
Faris married Michael Barrett in 2021.
