Fathom Entertainment and Viz Media will bring the first three episodes of Bleach: The Calamity to theaters nationwide in limited theatrical release from June 25th to 29th, before the final season is broadcast or distributed to streaming platforms.

Both the subtitled and English-dubbed versions of the episodes will be screened nationwide as part of the premiere, which will also include behind-the-scenes footage and conversations with series creator Tite Kubo, chief series director Tomohisa Taguchi, and series director Hikaru Murata.

“The Calamity” depicts the most unstable point of the Thousand Blood War arc, as the 13 Royal Guard Squads and the surviving Quincies converge on Waal Welt (a royal palace under the control of the Wandenreich) for a final confrontation with Juhabach.

“Anime fans are in for a thrilling experience as Bleach: Thousand Blood War completes its groundbreaking debut on the big screen,” said Ray Nutt, CEO of Fathom Entertainment. “Fathom has pioneered a theatrical experience of engaging, non-traditional content with a built-in fan base. ‘BLEACH’ fans can look forward to the first three episodes and exclusive behind-the-scenes content from our friends at Viz Media starting June 25.”

The theatrical release marks the latest milestone for the series, which has enjoyed a huge commercial and critical resurgence since its 2022 revival. Originally, 366 episodes were broadcast from 2004 to 2012 as one of Shonen Jump’s representative titles, along with “One Piece” and “Naruto.” “Bleach” was relaunched with the Millennium Blood War adaptation and quickly reaffirmed its cultural footprint, winning MyAnimeList’s Best Anime of 2022 and Best Anime of the Year at the 2024 Anime Trend Awards.

The series received consistent ratings of approximately 9.4/10 across fan and critic platforms and received multiple nominations at the 2024-25 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, including Best Action, Best Continuing Series, Best Score for composer Shiro Sagisu, and Best English Voice Actor for Johnny Yong Bosch. Viz Media’s social content for the series has generated more than 25 million cumulative views and 105 million impressions in 2025, and the series has logged more than 62 million hours of viewing time on Hulu.

Fathom Entertainment, owned by AMC Entertainment, Cinemark Holdings and Regal Cineworld Group, distributes event film content to theaters around the world.
