Variety reports that Peacock has renewed “The Burbs,” starring Keki Palmer, for a second season.
The series is inspired by the 1989 horror comedy of the same name and originally debuted on the streamer in February.
“We’re thrilled that viewers loved Season 1 of ‘The Burbs,’ and we look forward to spending even more time with Kike and the rest of our amazing cast at Hinkley Hills,” said Lisa Katz, President of Scripted Content, NBC & Peacock. “Our heartfelt congratulations go out to the writers, producers and all the staff for updating the beloved original film and creating something funny, warm and very contemporary.”
According to Peacock, the series has been watched for 1.7 billion minutes (equivalent to 28.3 million hours) since it began airing on February 8. In addition to Palmer, the cast of the series includes Jack Whitehall, Julia Duffy, Paula Pell, Mark Proksch, and Kapil Talwalkar.
The show’s official logline reads, “It follows a young couple (Palmer, Whitehall) who reluctantly move into the husband’s childhood home. When new neighbors move in across the street, their world is upended, old secrets in the cul-de-sac come to light, and the illusion of a quiet little neighborhood is shattered by a new and terrifying threat.”
Celeste Huey created the show and served as a writer and executive producer on Season 1, with Rachel Shucart also serving as a writer and executive producer. In addition to starring, Palmer also served as executive producer. Seth MacFarlane, Erica Huggins, and Amy Carlson executive produced Season 1 of Fuzzy Doors along with Brian Grazer, Kristen Zollner, and Natalie Berkus of Imagine Entertainment. Nzingha Stewart served as director and executive producer, with Dana Olsen serving as co-executive producer. UCP is a studio.
