“A Good Hand Wasted,” a new original movie starring Terrence Howard, will be released on the new streaming platform Turnstr+ on November 6th.
Described as a psychological thriller, the film’s official description reads: “During a complimentary luxury trip to an exclusive private island, six longtime friends are drawn into a high-stakes poker game on a secluded property. The rules become increasingly dangerous, and as the night falls, each of them confronts loyalty, guilt, and the true cost of survival.”
Howard from “Empire” and “Hustle & Flow” will be joined by Jessica Lindsay, Chelsea Tavares, Ninja DeVoe, Giovanni Watson, Jonathan Huw and Phil Tyler.
Howard said, “The brothers and sisters on set that I work with are actors. There are no games, no fuss, no jibes. Everyone is seriously on their A-game. Hopefully, the audience learns to live in the moment, appreciate life as it is, and risk their lives just to feel alive.” I hope you don’t have to put yourself out there. Life should be lived and appreciated, and not taken for granted. So I hope people gain that perspective. Don’t put your limits on this very few gifts that individuals really benefit from. ”
“A Good Hand Wasted” is directed by Ryan Lamarr and his production company Red Collective and is the first release of Lamarr’s three-film deal with Turnstra+. Director Lamar said, “A Good Hand” Wasted represents everything I love about independent filmmaking: simple, character-driven storytelling that proves you don’t need spectacle to make something cinematic. I’m grateful. This is the first of my three projects. They create real opportunities for directors, and that’s special. No matter how much the industry evolves, there’s always a place for strong storytelling, and Turnstr+ understands that.”
Launching on October 2, Turnstr+ aims to represent a “new generation of entertainment” focused on original content that is creator-driven and audience-centric.
“Turnstr+ was built to challenge what viewers expect from modern streaming,” executives said in a statement. “We are building a platform that combines premium original programming, bold independent storytelling, and real opportunities for both unknown and established filmmakers, all in one place, and completely free for viewers.”
