Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are developing a war movie for Netflix – an unexpected turn of events

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are developing a feature-length Afghan war memoir, No Way Out: The Searing True Story of Men Under Siege, for Netflix. The book chronicles the command of Paras and British Army Major Adam Jowett of Easy Company, a Royal Irish Ranger unit tasked with holding the Musa Qala district center in Afghanistan in July 2006. The film will be produced by Prince Harry, Markle, and Archewell Productions’ head of content Tracy Ryerson, who also wrote the script.

During Prince Harry’s 10-year stint as a member of the British Army, he served twice in Afghanistan.

Matt Charman, the Oscar-nominated author of Bridge of Spies, wrote the script.

No Way Out was published by Pan Macmillan in 2019. War correspondent Martin Bell described the memoir as “a lively and brilliantly written, moving account of the battle of Musa Qala, a modern-day Rorke castaway.” It currently has a rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars on Amazon.

The royal couple’s credits include “Cookie Queens,” “Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within,” “Polo,” “Heart of Invictus,” “Live to Read,” “Invisible Me,” and “Stroop: A Journey into the Rhino Horn Wars.” In addition to “No Way Out,” upcoming projects include “The Wedding Date,” an adaptation of a romance novel by Jasmine Guillory, and “Meet Me at the Lake,” an adaptation of a romance novel by Carly Fortune.

Variety magazine reported in March that Prince Harry and Markle had a falling out with Netflix over the company’s failure to produce successful content for the company. “No Way Out” is part of Archewell’s first-look deal after its entire deal with Netflix ends.

Deadline first reported the news of “No Way Out.”
