She will never, ever forget this.
Taylor Swift surprised an 8-year-old fan with an autographed guitar and a handwritten note after a TikTok video of the child went viral with the singer.
The sweet moment began in April, when Madeline, from Cleveland, threw a paper airplane over a fence to ask musician neighbor Ethan Hayes to play a Taylor Swift song on his guitar after she heard him practicing outside.
Hayes, 26, picked up the note and played Swift’s 2008 hit “Love Story” from her balcony, while Madeline sang along from her window.
Madeline’s mother, Natalie Hurek, filmed the interaction and later posted it to TikTok, where the clip quickly racked up nearly 4 million views.
The video included the text, “My daughter sent a paper airplane to her new neighbor, and this happened…” which ultimately caught Swift’s attention.
The Grammy winner sent signed guitars to both Madeline and Hayes, along with a handwritten note to young Swiftie, People reported.
“Dear Madeline,” Swift wrote. “I just wanted to tell you how happy I was that you asked your neighbors to play my song.
“You put the biggest smile on my face! I’m sending you your own guitar in case you want to learn too! Thanks again and sending you love, Taylor.”
Hayes told the outlet that Swift’s team contacted him directly after the video spread online.
“They were like, ‘Hey, Taylor saw your video. We want to send you something. Don’t tell anyone until we get it,'” he recalled.
“We were expecting an autographed poster or something. Then she sent us a guitar, which is insane.”
Meanwhile, Madeline had a short but sweet reaction to the surprise gift from her favorite singer.
“Thank you,” she said.
Natalie later explained that she came up with the idea because her daughter was too embarrassed to approach Hayes directly.
“We were preparing dinner with the windows open, and even Russell (my husband) let out a little ‘woo!’,” Natalie told PEOPLE of the first time she heard Hayes perform outdoors.
Madeline asked her mother for a piece of paper so she could write a note requesting a Taylor Swift song and send it over the fence as a paper airplane.
Natalie felt it might be the “cutest idea” her daughter had ever come up with.
Hayes admitted that she initially panicked after reading the request as she is not a “hardcore Swiftie”, but was familiar enough with “Love Story” to be able to play it.
“I’m a musician, so I get requests all the time,” he said. “That’s what I always carry in my back pocket.”
The musician also said he never imagined this moment would blow up online.
“My mom sent me that clip,” he said. “She was like, ‘Is that you?’” I was like, “Oh, that’s me.” ”
Since then, the TikTok has racked up millions of views, and Hayes says the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
Swift has long been known for surprising fans with personal gifts and gestures.
The “Bad Blood” singer previously made headlines for tipping stadium workers while playing in the NFL and handing out huge bonuses to staff during his record-breaking Elas tour.
The singer has also been busy with her fiancé, Travis Kelsey.
Swift and the Kansas City Chiefs tight end recently attended a playoff game between the Knicks and the Cavaliers in Cleveland, where Kelce was seen chugging beer on a courtside jumbotron, and Swift covered his face with his hands in response to laughter.
The pair, who were first rumored to be dating in 2023, have been spending time together in New York in recent weeks as they reportedly prepare for their July 3 wedding.
