“Sherry” daytime talk show canceled after four seasons

Comedian Sherri Shepherd’s talk show “Shelly” will end after four seasons. The news comes as another daytime hitter, The Kelly Clarkson Show, also announced it would end at the end of 2026 after seven seasons.

Lionsgate producer and distributor Shingle Debmar Mercury confirmed the news on Monday. “Shelly” was recently aired through the 2025-2026 television season on a group of stations including Fox Television, Nexstar, Hearst, Sinclair, Gray, Tegna and Sunbeam. Production on Season 4 will continue as planned, and the series will air its final episode in the fall.

Debmar Mercury co-presidents Ira Bernstein and Mort Marcus said in a joint statement: “This decision was driven by the evolution of the daytime television landscape and is not a reflection of the strength of the show, the strong creative momentum this season had on the production, or the incredibly talented Sherri Shepherd.” “We believe in this show and in Shelley and will explore alternatives on other platforms.”

At the start of last season, Frank Cicha, vice president of programming for Fox Television Networks, called the program “a cornerstone of the daytime lineup.”

The “Shelley” tape was created at Chelsea Studios in New York and is produced and distributed by Debmar Mercury.

When the show was renewed for a fourth season last year, Shepard said, “I don’t take for granted that people welcome me into their homes every day.” “We’re grateful that our viewers have embraced what we’re doing as we work hard to bring escapism into the lives of our viewers through joy, laughter, and inspiration. We look forward to raising the bar and turning up the volume as we plan our return for Season 4.”

Shepard, a former co-host of “The View,” actress, comedian and Emmy Award winner, will launch her first talk show in fall 2022. “Shelly” originally took over the FOX time slot previously occupied by “The Wendy Williams Show,” which was produced and distributed by Debmar Mercury for 13 seasons.
