Ali G made a surprise special guest appearance at Sunday’s Wimbledon men’s final and immediately got to work selling drugs from his seat on Center Court.
Sacha Baron Cohen’s comedy piece may have been tailored in classic white for the occasion, but his Wimbledon-themed jacket featured a large marijuana symbol on the back with an “Official Ganja Dealer” motif, and was paired with a heavy gold chain and glasses.
“I’ll be back. And if you rock up at Wimbledore Final Look-in 2, I’ll be here when we hook up. DM me especially if you’re a good fit,” he wrote on the new Ali G account on Instagram.
“We’re here for the men’s singles at Wimbledon, and despite the name, it’s not actually a gay party. It’s like the World Cup of something called tennis, a shitty version of table tennis,” he said in an Instagram video. “They say tennis is better played on the grass. So while I’m here, I’m going to sell as much as I can. So, if you want Chinese medicine, I’ll take whatever you want. Booyakasha. I’m seat 329 in row H. I don’t have any brothers here, so it’s easy to find me, dear. Respect!”
Other videos showed him pulling out what appeared to be a bag of marijuana and a joint for the camera, and was later recorded telling police that other guests had complaints that he provided drugs to children.
Ali’s unexpected appearance at Wimbledon comes amid news of a new Ali G movie, the first since 2022’s Ali G: Indah House.
Variety confirmed last week that Baron Cohen has finished production on a new film based on his sketch comedy breakthrough in the late 1990s. The film was secretly shot in the UK, much like Cohen did with 2006’s Borat and 2020’s Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, but there are also reports that parts of the film will be set in the US, where Ali G previously traveled to interview guests such as Noam Chomsky, Newt Gingrich and Donald Trump.
