Patrick Muldoon, best known for his roles on “Days of Our Lives” and “Melrose Place,” has died. He was 57 years old.
The producer died of a sudden heart attack on Sunday, Deadline reported.
His sister Shana Muldoon-Zappa told TMZ that Patrick had spent Sunday morning at his Beverly Hills home with his partner Miriam Rothbart before taking a shower.
After Rothbart decided to check on her because he was taking too long, she found him unconscious on the bathroom floor.
Emergency services were called, but Muldoon was pronounced dead at the scene.
Known as “Bobo” to his loved ones, one friend described him as “infinitely generous, with poetry, humor and an unmistakable presence,” according to Deadline.
He was also remembered as a man who “loved animals and humans alike, gave unforgettable hugs, and had a rare quality that made others feel safe and seen,” and as “stylish, charismatic, full of life, and lived every day with a full-on rock’n’roll spirit.”
Muldoon grew up in San Pedro, California, and graduated from the University of Southern California, where he played on the Trojans football team.
But his career pivoted when he appeared on two episodes of “Who’s the Boss?” while still at university.
Immediately after graduating in 1991, he landed a three-episode regular role on Saved by the Bell.
He went on to play one of his most iconic roles, Austin Reed, on Days of Our Lives, which he played from 1992 to 1995 and then from 2011 to 2012. While “Days” was on hiatus, Muldoon played Richard Hurt on “Melrose Place” from season 3 to season 5.
His career spanned the big screen, where he played Xander Barcalow alongside Denise Richards in the 1997 film Starhip Trooper. His latest film, Dirty Hands, is scheduled for release later this year.
He was also an executive producer on multiple projects including “The Tribes of Palos Verdes,” “The Dreadful,” and “Riff Raff.” Before his untimely death, he was an executive producer on Cockroach, starring Chris Hemsworth, Taron Egerton and Zazie Beetz.
As a bonus, he was the lead singer and guitar player for The Sleeping Masses.
He is survived by Rothbart. his parents, Deanna and Patrick Muldoon Sr.; his sister and brother-in-law, Shanna and Ahmet Zappa; and their children.
