Amazon Prime Video has released a new teaser trailer for Carrie, the television adaptation of Stephen King’s classic horror novel. All eight episodes of the series will be released on October 7th.
The series is teased in the logline as “a bold and timely reimagining of the story of Carrie White, a socially awkward high school student who lives a reclusive life with her overbearing mother.” “After the sudden and untimely death of her father, Carrie must contend with the alien landscape of a public high school, a bullying scandal that disrupts her community, and the appearance of mysterious telekinetic powers.”
Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White, Sienna Agdon plays Sue Snell, and Matthew Lillard plays Principal Grail. The series also stars Samantha Sloyan as Margaret White, Alison Thornton as Chris Hargensen, Talia Dudek as Emmaline, Amber Midthunder as Miss Desjardins, Josie Tota as Tina, Arthur Conti as Billy, and Joel Woollett as Tommy.
Mike Flanagan serves as writer, executive producer, showrunner, and director, Trevor Macy serves as executive producer, and Amazon MGM Studios produces.
This isn’t Howell’s first horror project, as he has previously appeared in Curse of Chucky, Cult of Chucky, Hunter Hunter, Spirit in the Blood, Time Cut, Harland Manor, and Channel Zero. Sloyan and Flanagan are longtime collaborators, with Sloyan previously appearing in Flanagan’s films The Haunting of Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass, and Hush.
“Carrie” will consist of eight episodes and was first reported to be in development in October 2024. The series was officially licensed by Amazon in April 2025. King’s novel was first made into an Oscar-nominated hit film in 1976, followed by an unpopular sequel in 1999, a television movie in 2002, and a remake in 2013.
