It’s not complicated.
Meryl Streep and Martin Short’s romance is proving to be alive and well after they were pictured on a dinner date together in London.
One fan told X that he was seated close to the actors at a restaurant over the weekend.
“Spent a few days in London, randomly picked a restaurant and ended up eating just meters away from Meryl Streep and her husband ❤️,” a fan tweeted alongside a photo of the Devil Wears Prada actress and Short cuddling up. (Streep and Short are not married.)
In the snapshot, the Bill Murder actor and Streep appeared to be sitting on the same side of the dining table, looking at the actress’ cell phone.
When asked by a fan if she tried to take selfies with the actors, she replied, “No, they were having a great time. It was full of laughter and kind gestures.”
“I have no intention of forcing myself into that vortex,” the netizen claimed.
Streep and Short, both 76, first sparked dating rumors in October 2024 when they were spotted sitting together and looking cozy at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards.
However, a representative for the Father of the Bride actor denied the gossip, telling People that the two are “just very good friends and nothing more.”
In January 2024, Short doubled down on his claims that he and Streep had a platonic relationship when he appeared on Bill Maher’s podcast Club Random.
“We’re not a couple. We’re just very close friends,” he claimed at the time.
But the following month, the “It’s Complicated” actress and Short were spotted having dinner together at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica, California.
In August of the same year, the two held hands on the red carpet at the season 4 premiere of Only Murders in the Building.
A source exclusively told Page Six that the actors “looked like they were together” during the premiere.
In October 2023, Streep revealed that she had secretly split from her husband, Don Gummer, six years ago. They have been married for 40 years and have a son, Henry, 46, and daughters Mamie, 42, Grace, 40, and Louisa, 34.
Short was married to Nancy Dolman for 30 years until her death in 2010. The couple had three children by adoption. Sons Oliver, 40, Henry, 36, and daughter Catherine sadly passed away in February in an apparent suicide. She was 42 years old.
