Mel C is getting candid about the Spice Girls.
On a recent episode of Cosmopolitan’s Blind Date, when asked which member of the girl group was “the craziest” during their rise to superstardom in the ’90s, Mel C (aka Melanie Chisholm) named Mel B (aka Melanie Brown).
“I think it’s the best success rate…” Mel C began, “I’m trying to find a better way to say it.”
“Scary Spice” Mel B, now 50, said: “It was very popular.”
“Sporty Spice” Mel C, now 52, was then asked by the magazine who gave her the best dating advice, and her answer was Mel B again: “She’s a cool girl.”
“She doesn’t get too involved in things,” Mel C added.
The Wannabe hitmaker also revealed during the discussion that the group’s members, including Baby Spice’s Emma Bunton, 50, Posh Spice’s Victoria Beckham, 52, and Ginger Spice’s Geri Halliwell, 53, were shocked when they were told their girl band ambitions were not realistic.
“I was told that girl bands don’t sell as well as boy bands,” the singer said incredulously. “What great things can you say about the Spice Girls?”
She added: Mel C went on to recall that the group was “determined to go out there and prove everyone wrong.”
Meanwhile, it turns out that Mel B is not only remembered as a popular member of the girl group, but also one of the most outspoken about the group’s reunion.
In March, the songstress told Page Six, “In a perfect world, we would already be on tour right now, touring all over the world.”
“I’m always the one saying, ‘Yeah, I’m going on tour,'” she continued. This comes just days after it was reported that the beloved band’s 30th anniversary reunion had been cancelled.
“I’d love to go on tour,” Mel B added. “I want to play music, but it’s just not possible.”
