Lena Dunham claims her Girls co-star Adam Driver made a shocking rant against her on the set of the HBO show.
Dunham has been promoting her new memoir, Famesick, and her interview with the Guardian, published Saturday, features her claims about Driver’s temper in the book.
According to the book, Driver, who played Adam Sackler, the on-again, off-again boyfriend of Dunham’s character Hannah Horvath on Girls, was “astonishingly rude” to her.
Dunham wrote that the actor once threw a chair against the wall next to her. She also claims he punched a hole in the wall of her trailer and screamed in her face.
“At the time, I didn’t have the skills… It never crossed my mind to say, ‘I’m your boss, you can’t talk to me like this,'” Dunham, who created and served as showrunner on “Girls,” recalled in an interview.
“And at that point in my 20s, I still thought that what great male geniuses do is eviscerate you, which is weird because I was raised by male geniuses who would never do that,” she continued, referring to her father, the painter Carroll Dunham.
Dunham went on to praise the other “amazing men” in her life.
“Judd[Apatow]is a great hero of mine. Tim Bevan from ‘Working Title’ is a huge part of my life, as is Sam Levy, the cinematographer,” she said. “I just worked with Mark Ruffalo, and he’s the most thoughtful, sensitive, politically engaged, beautiful person.”
“Girls” aired for six seasons from 2012 to 2017. Driver appeared in all six seasons of the show, which follows the lives of four female friends in their 20s living in New York City.
Allison Williams, Jemima Kirke and Zosia Mamet also appeared on the show.
Page Six reached out to Driver’s representatives regarding Dunham’s allegations, but did not immediately receive a response.

“Lena’s character, especially her female character, is very three-dimensional and never seems stereotypical, so it was great to be a part of that,” he said. “On set, we couldn’t have asked for a more supportive group of people. It was very open and youthful.”
He also said Dunham had “insight beyond his years.”
“She’s always happy. She’s great to be around. If you’re going to spend a lot of time in a really intimate relationship with someone, having her in the room is really the best-case scenario,” he said.
