Kathy Griffin took to Instagram on Tuesday to claim that she was banned from appearing on Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show.” She also accused Fallon of hosting UFC legend Conor McGregor, who was convicted in a sexual assault case in 2024 and ordered to pay $257,000 to a woman who accused him of rape.
“I haven’t been on the Jimmy Fallon show since it started at 12:30 p.m. ET. So I’m wondering if I’ve been kicked off the Fallon show or am I being inappropriate or too controversial,” Griffin said. “I don’t even know. When you’re locked out of a show, and if you guys know me, I’m locked out of most shows. You’re welcome, America and Indonesia. They don’t usually say you’re locked out. They can’t seem to find room for you.”
A representative for “The Tonight Show” declined to comment. People close to the situation said Mr. Griffin’s claims were exaggerated. A representative for Fallon did not immediately respond to Variety’s request for comment.
Griffin went after Fallon with McGregor as host, a decision she considered “bad judgment.” McGregor appeared on The Tonight Show on June 16th to promote his return to the UFC against Max Holloway.
“I think Fallon’s team made a mistake by hiring Conor McGregor,” Griffin said. “I think this film sends another message to women and other marginalized people around the world that we are not equal, that they can do whatever they want to us, and that the perpetrators will continue to be glorified.”
Griffin captioned the post, adding, “Fallon, what kind of message are we sending here?! And can you please save the people canceling for the people who actually deserve it? Watch this week’s episode of ‘Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off’ on my YouTube channel now!”
