Katey Sagal is the latest addition to the untitled Apple TV comedy from Liz Heldens and Matt Ward, Variety exclusively reports.
Sagal will join previously announced lead actress Elizabeth Banks and fellow cast members Ted Danson and Rob Delaney.
The show’s logline reads, “Recovering from a messy divorce, Heidi (Banks) sets out to secure a vibrant second act for herself and her children. But when she stumbles coordinating a sex party at her father’s (Danson) retirement community, Heidi is forced into an unlikely alliance with her girlfriend’s lifelong single son.”
Sagal plays Mavis, Heidi’s father’s supposed new girlfriend.
Sehgal recently appeared in the Netflix live-action version of “One Piece” Season 2 as Dr. Kureha. Other recent credits include “The Conners,” “Rebel,” “The Abandons,” “Shameless” and “Superior Donuts.” She is also known for her Golden Globe Award-winning role on the FX series “Sons of Anarchy” and for her roles on the hit shows “Futurama” and “Married…With Children.” In film, she is known for her roles in films such as Trust, Bleed for This, Pitch Perfect 2, and The Good Mother.
She is repped by CAA and B&B Management.
Heldens and Ward serve as writers, executive producers and showrunners on the series. Banks will executive produce with Max Handelman and Chrissy Wall through her Brownstone Productions. Jonathan Krisel will direct and executive produce the pilot. Quinn Haberman will serve as executive producer on Selfish Mermaid in association with Heldens, while Jason Weiner and John Radler will serve as executive producers for Small Dog Picture Company. 20th Television, with which the Heldens have an overall contract, will be the studio.
