Parker Posey was not meant to lead an unpleasant life. That’s why she’s hosting and executive producing a new reality competition from the producers of “Traitor” inside her luxurious Italian villa.
Hulu announced Wednesday that it has ordered a series on “The Mob,” an unscripted event called “Get Real,” which follows celebrities as they check into their villas and “try, struggle, and fight their way to win up to $250,000 in prizes.” In each episode, they take on mob movie-inspired tasks to survive.
As part of the twist, a group of celebrities will have to vote one of them to be the “don” of a mob family, giving that person absolute power to decide “who makes money, who stays and who ends up being defeated.” But will that keep the family loyal, or will it ultimately be overthrown?
The celebrity cast of “The Mob” Season 1 includes “The Sopranos” star Ida Turturro, who knows a thing or two about TV’s crime family. Cast: Willam Belli (RuPaul’s Drag Race), Demi Engeman (Mormon Wives), Maria Georges (Bachelor Nation), Joe Gorga (The Real Housewives of New Jersey), Harry Jowsey (Marry Harry), Chelsea Razkani (“Selling Sunset”), Debi Mazar (“Younger”), Bela Parc (“Love Overboard”), Shane Parton (“Bachelor” Nation), Rapper Romeo, Bruno Tonioli (“Dancing with the Stars”).
Studio Lambert, the producer of “The Traitors,” also worked on “The Mob” for Primal Media. Studio Lambert’s executive producers include Tim Harcourt, Jack Burgess, Niall O’Driscoll and Stephen Lambert.
Adam Wood and Matt Steiner created the format for The Mob and serve as executive producers for Primal Media alongside STV Studios CEO David Mortimer. Posey will also serve as executive producer, and Susan House will serve as showrunner.
Posey was recently nominated for an Emmy, a Golden Globe, and an acting award for his role in The White Lotus. She was also nominated for an Emmy Award for her guest appearance on “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” She is known for her credits on a string of iconic indie films including Party Girl, Kicking and Screaming, The Daytrippers, The House of Yes, and regular roles in Christopher Guest films such as Waiting for Guffman, Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, and For Your Think.
First, let’s introduce “The Mob”.
