This look had my jaw on the floor.
It’s been a few weeks since Prime Video’s Off Campus series premiered, but a clip of star Mika Abdallah wearing a recreation of the famous Versace jungle dress worn by Jennifer Lopez at the 2000 Grammy Awards is still making the rounds online (and getting cheers from the pop star herself).
But while the gravity-defying gown may have looked effortless for Abdallah’s Ali, keeping it in place required careful planning and, as costume designer Charlene Acquamore said, plenty of fashion tape.
“Our go-to tape was booby tape,” she revealed, adding that she also “absolutely loves” nippies tape and nipple covers. (“They have an incredible variety of skin tones, which is always very important to me,” she explained.)

Billed as “the world’s first original breast lift tape,” Booby Tape is designed to achieve a supportive push-up style without a bra. (To ensure a perfectly clean cut every time, the brand also makes small tape scissors.)
Nippies is also highly rated on Amazon. Not to mention, several other stylists have also named Nippies as a must-have over the years.

Aquamore’s reliable tape work paid off. That plunging look remained intact during the much-talked-about scene in which Ally and Dean (Stephen Kaling) danced to J.Lo’s “On the Floor.”
“When I read the script and knew I wanted Allie to wear that dress, I knew it had to be perfect. It’s Versace!” she said. “I have a lot of respect for Donatella because my early career was in fashion.”

Lopez’s original tropical print look literally inspired the creation of Google Images, but Acquamore never expected her unique take on this daring dress to get such a viral response.
“From the first fitting, we all knew it would be a moment, but we never imagined the level it would reach,” she said.
“This is really great and reminds us that great fashion pieces make you feel something no matter how many times you return.”
