For more than 40 years, Garcelle Beauvais has built a career as an award-winning actress, author, executive producer, television host, and, of course, “Real Housewife,” but even if you’ve been following her since the beginning, you may not know the whole story.
And Ms. Beauvais is ready to share it. On May 7, she will release her second memoir, “Protecting My Peace…at All Costs,” exclusively on Audible. Written and narrated by Beauvais, the Audible original takes listeners on a “quiet awakening that led her to her truth,” and the synopsis explains that the book “explores the transformative power of choosing oneself, including her decision to leave The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.” Last year, Beauvais announced her departure from the reality show Bravo after five seasons.
“This is a story about knowing when your soul says no, and having the courage to honor that truth,” Beauvais said in a statement to Variety about her new memoir. “Learning to protect your peace, set boundaries without apology, and ultimately tap into the power you’ve always had is not selfish. It’s about survival.”
“I wanted to share what I’ve learned about walking into a room as who you are and refusing to leave any part of yourself at the door. This Audible original is for anyone who’s ever felt empty after giving too much, and is ready to take back what’s yours. Sometimes the most fundamental thing you can do is simply choose you.”

In her memoir, Beauvais reflects on more than just her groundbreaking role as the first black cast member on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. She also expands on her previous biopic Love Me As I Am, which was released in 2022. This story explores the experiences that shaped her life, from motherhood, marriage, friendship breakups, and the ups and downs of fame, exploring her entire journey from Haiti to Hollywood and sharing the wisdom she’s gained along the way.
“Garcelle’s story represents exactly the kind of authentic, transformative storytelling that Audible stands for,” adds Kate Navin, Head of Creative Development, North America, Audible. “This is more than just a celebrity memoir. Garcelle’s decision to share her journey through audio only allows for an intimacy and vulnerability that fits her message perfectly. We are proud to provide a platform where her voice can be heard to millions of listeners who need to hear that defending the peace is not just acceptable; it is essential.”
Beauvais’ filmography ranges from “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “NYPD Blue” to “Spider-Man: Homecoming” and “Coming to America.” Through her production company, she executive produced and starred in “Black Girl Missing” and “Terry McMillan Presents: Seduced by Love.” She will next be seen in the third season of the Netflix comedy series “Survival Of The Thickest.”
