Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza’s murderous animatronics are out for more blood.
Blumhouse Atomic Monster has commissioned Gary Dauberman to write the script for the next Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. Dauberman has written some of the most successful horror series of the past decade, including “It,” “Annabelle” and “The Nun.”
The past two Five Nights at Freddy’s movies have been huge hits, with the 2023 original grossing $297.2 million worldwide on a $20 million budget, and the 2025 sequel grossing $239.6 million on a $36 million budget. The film was set in a haunted, family-themed restaurant and starred Josh Hutcherson. The film is based on the popular horror video game series by Scott Cawthon, who co-wrote the first film with Emma Tammi and Seth Cadeback, and wrote the second film himself.
Despite being financially successful, neither film, Five Nights at Freddy’s, was well-received by critics. Given Dauberman’s pedigree, the next installment in the precious series could be of better quality, resulting in slightly less gruesome reviews.
Blumhouse Atomic Monster has had a successful year in theaters, releasing two of the summer’s biggest hits, “Obsession” and “Backroom.” This marks a return to form for the company, which has struggled for much of 2025 with underperforming films like “Wolf Man” and “M3GAN 2.0.” Blumhouse Atomic Monster had a moderate hit last year with “The Black Phone 2.”
Daberman is repped by WME, Kathleen Remington, Mortimer PR and Toczek Suddleson. Dread Central broke the news of Dauberman’s hiring.
