Roman Roy did some pretty diabolical things in Succession, so it might make sense for Family Guy to cast star Kieran Culkin as Satan in a new Halloween-themed special airing exclusively on Hulu later this year.
Culkin’s casting was announced Saturday at San Diego Comic-Con’s “Family Guy” panel, where it was announced that the show will have new Halloween and holiday-time specials that will premiere on both Hulu and (in most international markets) Disney+ later this fall.
The Halloween special, titled “Happy Hell-O-Ween,” features Brian and Stewie in Hell, “paying the price for 24 seasons worth of misdeeds. When they manage to embarrass even the devil himself, they are ultimately held accountable.”
Meanwhile, the logline for another upcoming special, “Peter Claus,” is as follows: “It’s Christmas in Quahog, and Peter and his friends compete to become the town’s official Santa. Peter loses, but he can handle the disappointment in a grown-up way or give fans a memorable episode of ‘Family Guy.’ Thankfully, he chose option two. ”
News of the Halloween and holiday special came from executive producer and showrunner Rich Appel, who also gave a first look at Culkin’s role as the Devil. Also on stage were “Family Guy” stars Alex Borstein (Lois), Arif Zahir (Cleveland), Jennifer Tilly (Bonnie), and co-executive producer and director Peter Singh.
“Family Guy” will return to Fox midseason (early 2027) for its 25th season. The show will be available to stream on Hulu the next day and also on Hulu’s Disney+ in the US. Starting with its 20th animated television production, “Family Guy” will be created and executive produced by Seth MacFarlane. Rich Appel and Alec Sulkin will serve as executive producers and showrunners, with Steve Callahan, Danny Smith, Carla Vallow, Mark Henteman, Patrick Meighan and Alex Carter serving as executive producers.
