Lark Voorhees was reportedly the only Saved by the Bell alum to reach out to Dustin Diamond before he tragically passed away in February 2021.
Diamond’s longtime friend Dan Block made the surprising claim on Monday’s episode of Investigation Discovery’s “Hollywood Demons.”
“[Vorhees]was a really nice person and she left him a voicemail and we played it for him before he passed away and he enjoyed it,” Bullock said during the filming of the next episode.
“She was the only person who really reached out to him and she really has genuine feelings for him,” added Diamond’s friend. “I know they had a connection.”
Voorhees referenced the death of his late “Saved by the Bell” co-star in his confessional on the “Hollywood Demons” episode.
“That was a very good friend of mine,” the 52-year-old actress said. “i miss him.”
Representatives for Vorhies did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
“Saved by the Bell” aired for four seasons on NBC from 1989 to 1993.
In addition to Diamond playing the nerdy Screech and Voorhees playing the fashionable Lisa, the teen comedy also starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar as Zack, Tiffani Thiessen as Kelly, Mario Lopez as Slater, and Elizabeth Berkley as Jesse.
The show starred Dennis Haskins as the stern but often perplexing Principal Belding.
Diamond and his Saved by the Bell co-stars also reprized their roles in the sitcom’s first two spinoffs, Saved by the Bell: The College Years, which aired from 1993 to 1994, and Saved by the Bell: The New Class, which aired from 1993 to 2000.
However, the comedian reportedly fell into a major feud with his former co-stars over their 2009 memoir “Behind the Bell,” which accused drug use, cheating, and other scandalous behavior among the teenage cast members.
“Everything I’ve heard about his book has been negative,” Gosselaar said in 2014, adding that he hasn’t spoken to Diamond since 1994. “I don’t remember anything like that. My experience on the show was a very positive one.”
Diamond later claimed that she used a ghostwriter to write her memoir and apologized for any harm it caused.
“I’m sorry, everyone, for taking advantage of me, the book, and any other situation,” he said on “The Dr. Oz Show” in 2016. “But I’m sure you’ve all gone through low times as well, and I still love you all.”
Meanwhile, Diamond also faced major legal trouble in December 2014 after stabbing a man during a Christmas Day bar fight in Wisconsin.
He was ultimately found guilty of concealing a weapon and disorderly conduct, and was sentenced to four months in prison in June 2015.
Then, in early January 2021, the “Saved by the Bell” alum was diagnosed with an aggressive stage 4 lung cancer called small cell carcinoma.
Diamond passed away just three weeks later, on February 1, 2021. He passed away at the age of 44.
Lopez and Thiessen addressed their former co-star’s tragic battle with lung cancer on social media ahead of his death.
“We reached out to Dustin earlier this evening. The news of his diagnosis is heartbreaking, but we are confident he will get through this,” Lopez, 52, wrote on Instagram.
Thiessen, 52, also added to her post, “Thinking of Dustin.”
As for Gosselaar and Voorhees, they expressed their condolences following the news of Diamond’s death.
“I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Dustin Diamond, a true comedic genius,” Gosselaar, 52, said. “When I look back on our time working together, I will miss that raw brilliance that only he could create.”
“Words cannot express the sadness I feel right now,” Vories added. “Dustin and I had a warm and special friendship. He was a caring gentleman and my memories of him will always be cherished. He will be sorely missed.”
