Chris Brown pleaded guilty in a London court on Friday to a charge of “assault” following a 2023 nightclub attack.
The “Forever” singer and his co-defendant, rapper and vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu, also made the same statement during a five-minute hearing at Southwark Crown Court, according to the BBC.
Charges of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon were dropped.
Mr Brown, 37, was released on bail on Friday, according to the BBC.
He will be sentenced on October 26th for assault, which carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison. The BBC said Mr Afley had used or threatened violence and threatened the safety of someone.
The Grammy winner was flanked by security when he arrived at the courthouse, and a group of fans had gathered outside the courthouse, the Guardian reported.
Brown was wearing a tan suit, gold-rimmed sunglasses and a St. Louis Cardinals baseball cap.
Brown was arrested two years later, in May 2025, for allegedly hitting music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub.
He was taken into custody at the five-star Raleigh Hotel and later charged with inflicting serious bodily injury, according to NBC News.
Brown, who initially denied attacking Diaw, posted bail of 5 million pounds ($6.75 million), which allowed him to join the Breezy Bowl XX tour in Europe and North America last summer.
In October 2023, Diaw filed a lawsuit against Brown, alleging that the “Kiss Kiss” singer assaulted her eight months earlier.
The producer claimed that Brown “caused serious and permanent injury” after “hitting him over the head” with a bottle of “Don Julio 1942” at the Tape London nightclub in February 2023.
Brown “mercilessly stomped” Diaw and kicked him in the back of the neck, rendering him unconscious for 30 seconds, police said.
Diaw claimed in his lawsuit that the “severe blow” left him at the hospital with “lacerations to his head and torn ligaments in his leg.”
Mr. Diaw also accused Mr. Brown of engaging in “defamation by spreading false rumors” about Mr. Brown and his client after the incident, including calling him a thief in order to damage his professional relationship.
Mr. Brown has had multiple legal issues over the past 20 years.
Last month, Brown was ordered to pay $13 million to his former housekeeper after she was brutally attacked by her 200-pound dog in 2020.
Brown, who testified in the case, claimed he left the scene of the dog attack because he didn’t want to cause a media stir or have his voice heard on a 911 call.
His most famous legal scandal came in 2009, when he pleaded guilty to grievous assault for severely beating his then-girlfriend Rihanna.
