Tom Holland may be ready to rule Ithaca, but it turns out he’s no master of his own belly. The “Odyssey” star appeared on the latest episode of “Hot Ones” and ended up vomiting after eating the show’s signature spicy chicken wings.
Holland appeared on the YouTube show with co-star Jon Bernthal. It was clear that the London-born Dutchman was struggling with the spiciness of chicken wings throughout the interview. But after the actors finished eating Wings of Death, the pair got up for a promotional shoot with host Shaun Evans. Before he could bend over, Holland began coughing and eventually vomited.
Then Holland immediately started laughing. Bernthal grabbed him by the shoulders and cheered him, “Let’s go!” and then told him to “take a picture” of the moment.
Holland turned to the production staff and said, “You can use that,” as Bernthal handed him a napkin. “Look, Louis Vuitton, there’s nothing on my clothes.”
Despite the interviewees eating super spicy chicken wings in each episode, no other guest has ever thrown up in the show’s eight-year history. Evans admitted that Bernthal asked if anyone had ever thrown up before, to which Evans replied, “Maybe it’s the first time on set.”
“I love being first,” Holland laughed.
The two were promoting their latest film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which will be released on July 31st. In recent years, the show has become an important hub for celebrities with new projects.
During the interview, Holland talked about the opening day of Christopher Nolan’s film, when he couldn’t find the set. “The first day I went to Morocco, you (John) were working that day, and I went to the beach to see them work. I wanted to know a little bit about how Chris (Nolan) likes to work, and I just wanted to watch from a distance. And then I got to the beach and I couldn’t see a single crew member. I could see ships and extras and warriors and horses for miles. And you’d ask yourself, where are the crew?”
He continued, “So they told me to walk on this beach, and every 10 minutes I heard ‘Rolling!’ And in that moment, we really felt like we were part of something that had never been done before. These movies are legendary, not just for the quality of the movies, but for the scale and scope of what Chris was trying to do.”
