CBS has announced that Big Brother Season 28 will premiere on July 9th at 8pm ET/PT. The show’s sister series, Big Brother: Unlocked, will be rebroadcast the following day in the same time slot.
After the Season 28 premiere, subsequent episodes will air Wednesdays and Thursdays at 8pm ET/PT, and Live Eviction will air Sundays at 8pm ET/PT. CBS promises that season 28 of Big Brother will feature “more hours of programming than ever.” The show is scheduled to present its 1,000th episode during the new season. Big Brother is the first prime-time series to reach this milestone, according to CBS.
The two-hour Season 27 finale drew the reality competition series’ biggest audience in more than three years, averaging 4.3 million viewers on CBS. That’s a 33% increase from the Season 26 premiere, which reached 3.2 million viewers, according to Nielsen. Ashley Hollis, 25, from Chicago, was the winner of “Big Brother” season 27. She defeated runner-up Vince Panaro by a 6-1 jury vote and took home $750,000.
“Big Brother” is led by host Julie Chen Moonves and follows a group of strangers of different ages and backgrounds living under the same roof. Contestants are under 24/7 surveillance with 94 HD cameras and 113 microphones. Each week, guests must kick someone to the curb until only one person remains. The last person standing will go home with a prize of $750,000.
“Big Brother” was created by John De Mol. The series is produced by Fly on the Wall Entertainment in association with Banijay Americas and executive produced by Alison Grodner and Rich Meehan.
