Superfan Ben Stiller has confirmed that he is partnering with the NBA, HBO, and A24 to produce a multi-part documentary series about the history of the New York Knicks and last weekend’s historic championship victory.
The series chronicles the history, culture and enduring legacy of the Knicks, culminating with the franchise’s first NBA Championship in 53 years.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be working with @a24 and @hbo on a doc about the NY Knicks!!!!,” Stiller posted on X, adding, “#LETSGOKNICKS.” He was a guest on Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart’s “Roommates” podcast Wednesday and told the winning players, “I did say, ’26 years for the Knicks.'”
“Obviously, I’m filming something on my phone,” he continued on the podcast, “but it’s going to be about all the eras of the Knicks, and this team, obviously, the culmination of what’s been going on for a long time is here. It’s very exciting. It’s great to have this much access to your team. We’re probably going to shoot some more in the next season, and I’ll report back to you guys for some interviews, so it’s going to be next year when we work on that,” he told the host. “For a long time, a lot of people wanted to make it happen.”
Mr. Stiller is the director of the event series produced in partnership with A24. According to A24’s official synopsis, the series “traces the series from the ’90s to the improbable record-breaking feat that finally brought the championship back to New York.”
According to A24, the series will offer “unprecedented access to the NBA, never-before-seen footage, and a definitive look at one of basketball’s most iconic stories.”
