Chris Ann Affleck, mother of Ben Affleck and Casey Affleck, has died at the age of 83.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor’s mother passed away on June 2 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.
She “passed away peacefully in her sleep.”
The newspaper noted that according to the former teacher’s obituary, she was diagnosed with the disease in December 2025.
At the time, she was given six months to live.
Representatives for Benn and Casey did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
Chris, born Christopher Ann Bolt, was born in December 1942 in New York City and graduated from Harvard University.
She taught public school children for 35 years and retired in 2008.
Chris welcomed Ben, now 53, and Casey, now 50, in 1972 and 1975, respectively, while she was married to then-husband Timothy Affleck.
The two divorced when Ben was a preteen.
In addition to his sons, Chris has five grandchildren.
Ben is the father of Violet (20), Seraphina (17), and Sam (12), while Casey has two grown children, Indiana (22) and Atticus (18).
Chris’ obituary stated that when he was diagnosed, Chris wanted to see Atticus graduate from high school and was actually present at the ceremony on May 31st.
“Chris was justifiably proud of the accomplishments of his descendants,” the obituary said. “But she was happy when they questioned authority, rebelled, or subtly intervened.”
Award-winning actors and directors Ben and Casey are deeply grateful to their mother for supporting their careers over the years.
“My mother was really supportive,” she told Boston Magazine in 2006.
The following year, Ben credited his mother with getting him into acting, telling Parade that “a friend of[his mother’s]was a casting director,” and “I started acting like a lark.”
