Barry Keoghan has finally broken his silence on rumors that he cheated on Sabrina Carpenter.
“I feel like I’m in a safe place to say this…but I’ve been avoiding things,” the Irish actor admitted while discussing his breakup with the pop star on Tuesday’s “Friends Keep Secrets” podcast with Benny Blanco, Lil Dicky and Kristin Battalucco.
“I felt like I took a break from Instagram and my social profiles. I stopped going to events. The only thing I stopped doing was socializing.”
Mr Cogan said his absence was due to “untrue” stories being circulated and that he had “not even really talked about it” until now.
“I never confirmed or said anything about it. … I just disappeared,” the “Saltburn” star explained.
When Dickie (real name David Bird) asked if the “story” the actor was talking about was an affair, he admitted that was indeed the rumor he was referring to.
“I don’t want to implicate other people, but unfortunately, having relationships in public is something we all know, you know from our own stories,” Kogan said.
“When it’s brought out, it’s like… it’s amplified.”
“This is difficult because I never want to speak on behalf of others, and I never want to refer to others or involve others.”
The “Batman” star said it was neither his place nor his ex-lover’s place to “come forward and speak” on his behalf because he feels it would be “unfair to them.”
“They’re also in a romantic relationship. It’s also something that we’re both out on as well, so I’m very aware of that,” he concluded.
Carpenter, 26, and Corgan, 33, first became romantically linked in December 2023 when they were spotted on a dinner date in Los Angeles.
A month later, the pair apparently confirmed their romance when an onlooker spotted them sharing a “little kiss” while visiting an interactive museum in Los Angeles.
In December 2024, Page Six confirmed that the “Please Please Please Please” singer and “Banshees of Ynyshelin” actor had called it quits.
Rumors then surfaced that Corgan had cheated on Carpenter with an influencer called Breckie Hill, and the Oscar nominee deactivated his Instagram account following backlash.
Hill denied allegations that she had ever dated the “Crime 101” actor, insisting they had never even met in real life and only saw her on TV.
Keoghan has a three-year-old son, Brando, with ex-girlfriend Alison Sandro.
