Row K Entertainment has acquired US distribution rights to “Charlie Harper,” starring Emilia Jones and Nick Robinson. The film recently premiered on Tiff, and Row K also picked up Gus Van Sant’s “Dead Man’s Wire.”
“Charlie Harper” follows the love story of Charlie (Robinson) and Harper (Jones) and begins to navigate his early 20s and falls in love with each other. As the pair approaches, they begin to discover themselves as individuals and as couples.
The film is co-directed by Tom Dean and Mac Eldridge. “Charlie Harper” is produced by Wyck Godfrey, Isaac Klausner, Laura Quicksilver, Patrick Wachsberger, Ashley Stern, and Mallory Edens.
“Tom and Mac have created a fascinating feature with the vibrant “Charlie Harper” with the powerful performances of Nick Robinson and Emilia Jones,” MCT principals and Row K co-chairs Christopher Woodrow and Raj Singh said in a press release. “This second pickup, following our initial acquisition from TIFF, reflects the momentum we’re building on Row K and our commitment to bringing bold, filmmaker-driven stories to our audience. We’re particularly excited to defend a film that captures the exhilaration of early adulthood, both with deep, timeless resonances.”
“Row K’s commitment to distributing extraordinary storytelling to a wide audience makes them the perfect home for this film,” said producer Mallory Edens, founder of Little Ray Media. “At the heart of it, ‘Charlie Harper’ is about love, heartbreak and the bittersweet process of who you are. The theme feels timeless and universal.
Additional executive producers for the film include Wesley R. Edens, Pascal Breton, Lionel Uzan, Marty Bowen, and Ashley Farrell.
The acquisition was negotiated by UTA independent film group, Picture Perfect Federation and Little Ray Media.
Dean is represented by Circle Management and Production, as well as by Beer Abramson Levisonson, UTA.
