Comcast’s NBCuniversal is telling employees they will need to come to the office at least every four days starting next year.
As of January 5, 2026, NBCU requires Hybrid employees to do four days of office workwork, according to a memo from NBCuniversal’s Chief Operating Officer Adam Miller. Staff will have the option of working remotely or in the office on Fridays for each of the Miller’s September 8th notes.
According to Miller’s memo, employees who are “not ready to comply with four-day office requirements” may be eligible for a “voluntary exit support package” if they are below the VP level.
Currently, NBCU workers must appear in the office three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday). One company’s insider said that the four-day week schedule is not a major shock, and that many NBCU employees are already here on Monday. Meanwhile, Comcast has had a four-day requirement for employees of US-based companies and cable companies since September 2023.
“Looking ahead towards an exciting 2026, looking back at the past few years, it’s becoming more and more clear that we’re better off when we’re together,” Miller writes. “As we all experience, face-to-face work and collaboration spark innovation, foster creativity and create stronger connections.”
NBCU’s four-day office duties are due to other companies enforce return to office policies. Paramount Skydance said last week that staff will need to be in the office five days a week starting January 5, 2026, five days a week, and those who do not want to do so can seek the acquisition on September 15.

So, on Monday, January 5, 2026, the company will implement four-day in-office workers for hybrid employees. Hybrid employees must be on-site from Monday through Thursday and can work in the office on Fridays ongoing options or on-offices. We recognize that being on the ground on Friday is part of your role, and for others it is a choice. Our offices are open every day and we encourage everyone to make the most of working together in person.
Flexibility remains an important part of our culture and the company will continue to accommodate life events with options such as time, adjusted times, or additional remote days when needed. As always, employees should discuss these needs when managers arise. I understand that adjustments may need to be needed to comply with this change. Please use your time between now and January to make the necessary plans. If you are not prepared to comply with the four-day office requirements by January 5, 2026, discuss your options with your HR Manager. If you are below the VP level, you may be eligible for a voluntary exit support package.
