Rosie O’Donnell revealed in a recent episode of “via Entertainment Weekly) that she was forced to miss out on her daughter’s college graduation due to security concerns over a potential return to the US amid a continuing feud with Donald Trump. After Trump was re-elected last November, the television icon moved to Ireland.
“My daughter was out of college, but I didn’t go back because the security guard told me he didn’t think it was wise,” O’Donnell said. “Because I think Trump will use me to crush his base.”
The infamous feud between O’Donnell and Trump has returned in recent months. Trump posted on Truth Social in July and despite his lack of authority to do so, he was trying to revoke O’Donnell’s citizenship.
“I’m seriously considering taking away her citizenship because of the fact that Rosie O’Donnell isn’t in the greatest interest of our greatest nation,” Trump posted at the time. “She is a threat to humanity and should remain in the great country of Ireland if they want her.”
In an interview with the new podcast, O’Donnell said:
Speaking to Variety earlier this year, O’Donnell said he has no plans to return to the US at the moment. She explained: “In the current political situation, when is it safe to come back with your kids? We won’t be able to push that forward before this administration is completely over.
O’Donnell frequently opposes Trump. In a summer Tiktok post, she expressed concern that Trump finds a way to cancel “views” because current hosts, including Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar, are not in line with Trump’s views.
“The show is where five women speak their opinions. That’s the threat right now,” O’Donnell said at the time. “Because it’s not enough to drive the country to the ground. You need to control what people see. What they hear. What they think. Apparently, the truth is now dangerous.”
O’Donnell’s statement and her decision to cite Joy Behar clearly hit the nerves in Trump’s White House. Spokesman Taylor Rogers opposed both women when asked for comment from Variety about O’Donnell’s Tiktok Post.
