Mother monsters are at home.
Lady Gaga is in the middle of her “Mayhem” tour, but will be holding a concert at Madison Square Garden tonight, but she made time in the madness that will be featured on MTV VMAS 2025.
The 39-year-old singer was wearing puff-sleeved Marc Jacobs black and purple gowns, and she wore luxurious all-over ruffles and lace at the ceremony, and accepted the Artist of the Year award.
“I wish I could stay and see all these great performances, but I have to go back to Madison Square Garden,” she said at the end of her acceptance speech.
She highlighted the black mini bangs and teased the bread with mauve and burgundy flower headpieces.
Her makeup – bleached brows, heavily lined red lips, and dramatic copper eyeshadow – added to the look-gothic appeal.
Gaga is the night’s most nominated artist, leading the charge with 12 nods. Her “Die with a Smile” collaborator Bruno Mars follows in the footsteps with 11 nominations.
Gaga is not only the biggest award of the night, Video of the Song, the fastest video ever to reach 2 billion streams on Spotify, but it has also been nominated for Song of the Year, Best Collaboration, Best Pop Video, Best Albut, and best Direction for “Abracadabra.”
Gaga will perform in New York at Madison Square Garden, and award shows including performances by Sabrina Carpenter, Ricky Martin and Mariah Carey are ongoing at UBS Arena on Long Island.
She began her “Mayhem” world tour in Las Vegas in July, taking in many of the same creepy outfits and references to her decades-long career with her epic April Coachella 2025 headlining performance.
The superstar has always been a major player in the VMA. She made her debut with a massive splash, and in 2009 she performed an epic and memorable production of “Paparazzi” covered in fake blood on stage.
She has worn some of the most iconic looks on the red carpet for many years, including the iconic “meat dress” by Fran Fernandez that she wore in 2010. And in 2011 she wore drugs as a male alter ego, Joe Calderon.
However, no pop stars have appeared since the virtual red carpet in the 2020s. She was promoting her “Chromatica” album, wearing a Covid-19-inspired face mask and a baby blue hair arrangement.
